This one is so incoherent I’m not quite sure how I’m being scammed…

Pardon me for not having the pleasure of knowing your mindset before making you this offer and it is utterly confidential and genuine by virtue of its nature.I write to solicit your assistance in a funds transfer deal involving US$ 3.5M.This fund has been stashed out of the excess profit made last year by my branch office the International Commercial Bank which I am the manager.

I have already submitted an approved end of the year report for the year 2005 to my head office here in Accra-Ghana and they will never know of this excess. I have since then, placed this amount on a Non-Investment Account without a beneficiary.

Upon your response, I will configure your name on our database as holder of the Non-Investment Account. I will then guide you on how to apply to my head office for the Account Closure/ bank-to-bank remittance of the funds to your designated bank account.

If you concur with this proposal, I intend for you to retain 30% of the funds while 70% shall be for me.

Kindly forward your response to:

Isn't this scrabble?

I came across this wonderful new game in a backpackers in Oturehua called “Funworder”. You get these tiles and have to lay them out on a grid where you get points according to the letters and where you place them. Seems a little familiar but can’t quite place where I’ve seen the idea before…

all real words I ensure you

Ewan put a few words out, note the triple word score for “spaz”…

Crappy fix-it job

If you thought you already knew what crappy handyman workmanship looked like maybe you should think again. This is a little gem from a pretty average backpackers in Middlemarch, in Central Otago in beautiful New Zealand.

What I see riding my bike to school

I see some wonderful sights as I ride back and forth from town to Mt Stromlo. Below is one of the recent highlights…

rednecks in aussie? no!

thanks, international talk like a pirate day

I always thought ‘keelhaul’ was pirate for ‘kill all’, but apparently not. Thanks to the originators I have learned somthing, wow.

This image has probably been posted all over the interweb, but it’s so good I couldn’t help it.

old school

I have plently of spare time the last few days. It’s hard to work solid for 15 hours, even with a 24″ lcd to plug my laptop into…

So I signed up to Old Friends, a website where NZ’ers can get in touch with old mates and see what they’re up to now. It’s classic to see who’s married and still living in Palmy, and who made it out into the big bad world. Perhaps the most scary is the sheer number of my old friends whose names appear there, maybe they have even more spare time to muck around with that sort of stuff than I do.

They are pretty advanced here at Parkes, no more guys “running around with their arse hanging out their daks”. They have email here, air-email which is pretty advanced. Like early computers the machines are quite large still.big boxes big boxes

I also discovered a blog by a guy called Luke. He’s an astronomer like me (though a little older). It’s funny to see another side of someone whose name I see on serious papers in the journals… Astronomers are people too!

Rate this entry zero!

I’m curious, almost every entry in this blog aquires a rating of 3. Very middle of the road. I suspect there’s something funny going on, like they’re not being rated by real people…

You can help me confirm this by rating this entry zero, instead of middle of the road like all the others. Then we might be able to see whether the ratings are real or not!

Time for a change?

I wish to report a disturbing trend of late: some people who shall remain nameless have taken to calling me names, which sickens me. I have no space in my life to be called ‘granty’, or ‘grantie’, both are repulsive…the word ‘cute’ has also been bandied around with reckless abandon at times.

This must be put to an end. The time for a bad deed is evidently long overdue…watch this space.

Balloon season

I remember coming to Canberra last year, and seeing dozens of hot air balloons in the air. I thought maybe it was like that all the time, but there is a season for it. A season which is aparrently close to starting judging by what I saw on the way to school the other day…

walking home

hoo boy it’s late, but never walk home when you live in canberra unless you live in the inner city. it is now 3am and it’s taken me since 1:30 to get here after the concert (see later post). i waved half heartedly at a few taxis, but my small town nz upbringing has finally caught up with me. gone are the days of walking home in half an hour (or less), and welcome to the time of the taxi.
